Manchester United, nicknamed the "Red Devils," are reportedly preparing to sign a hardworking midfielder to strengthen their squad this coming January.
The Daily Mail, a prominent English media outlet, reported that Manchester United, the Premier League giants, are considering loaning Conor Gallagher, the English international midfielder from Atlético Madrid, to Old Trafford in January.
Gallagher, 25, transferred from Chelsea to Atlético Madrid in 2024 and has established himself as a consistent key player under coach Diego Simeone, having played 12 La Liga matches this season.
However, Gallagher is looking to return to play in England, while Manchester United aims to reinforce their midfield because coach Ruben Amorim sees that area as not yet strong enough, especially with Manuel Ugarte’s disappointing form.
Recent reports indicate that Manchester United plans to loan Gallagher in the upcoming January window, with an option to purchase permanently for £45 million next summer.
Former Chelsea defender William Gallas once praised Gallagher, saying, "He is a ball-winning midfielder with great stamina and applies intense pressure."
It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will secure a new midfielder, as besides Gallagher, they are also linked with several other midfielders, including Carlos Baleba from Brighton and Elliott Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
