From football to politics, Praveenwatch Boonyong, former Thai national footballer, has entered the political field as a candidate for the Bhumjaithai Party.
On 10 Nov 2025 GMT+7, "Big" Praveenwatch Boonyong, former defender of the "War Elephants," Thailand's national team, and several prominent Thai League clubs, officially stepped into politics. He announced his candidacy for Member of Parliament representing Kanchanaburi's 5th district (Sangkhla Buri, Thong Pha Phum, Si Sawat, Sai Yok districts, and Ban Kao subdistrict of Mueang Kanchanaburi) under the banner of the Bhumjaithai Party.
Praveenwatch Boonyong, who has played for well-known Thai League teams such as Bangkok Glass FC (BG Pathum United), Chainat FC, Port FC, and Buriram United, is the son of Prathet Boonyong, mayor of Tha Khanun Subdistrict.
Additionally, Praveenwatch Boonyong is the elder brother of Theepong Boonyong, also known as "S.J. Boss," a Kanchanaburi Provincial Administrative Organization member representing Thong Pha Phum district.
