
“Thanakorn” revealed that the fire at the rice bran oil extraction factory in Ang Thong Province has been contained. The Provincial Industry Office has ordered the factory to cease operations and is expediting aid to the injured. Pollution inspections have confirmed no harm to employees or the surrounding community.
On 17 November 2025 GMT+7, Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Minister of Industry, gave an update on the investigation into the explosion and fire at the rice bran oil extraction tower of Ang Thong Thanchat Company Limited in Chaiyo District, Ang Thong Province. He reported receiving information from the full team deployed on site alongside the Ang Thong Provincial Industry Office that the fire was successfully contained around 15:30 on 16 November. However, one fire-fighting team remains on standby to prevent any rekindling. The cause of the fire remains unclear as injured individuals have yet to provide definitive explanations. Of the three injured, one has been discharged from hospital, while two remain under treatment.
Mr. Thanakorn added that the Ang Thong Provincial Industry Office has ordered the factory to completely suspend operations under Section 39, paragraph one, due to damage in the main distillation tower where the fire occurred. The Pollution Control Department dispatched its Region 6 center to inspect pollution inside and outside the factory and confirmed that there is no harmful impact on factory employees or nearby residents.
Regarding compensation for those affected, the company has stated it will provide aid according to legal requirements and will hold a meeting today to consider additional support. Mr. Thanakorn also emphasized that the Ang Thong Provincial Industry Office must continuously report to the Ministry of Industry’s leadership on progress regarding the fire’s cause and any other damages.
