As the New Year nears, residents bring gifts to the security guards as tokens of appreciation to boost their morale on duty. Additionally, some receive cash bonuses reaching up to tens of thousands of baht.
On 19 Dec 2024 GMT+7, reporters observed that near the year-end festival welcoming 2025, the front area of Passorn Village 1, Moo 3, Khlong Sam Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province, was beautifully decorated with the largest Christmas tree in Khlong Sam. On the left side near the village gate, there was a large pile of gifts, each labeled with the names and house numbers of residents.

The gifts included various items such as fans, bicycles, snacks, and many others. Some residents did not give physical gifts but instead provided cash bonuses to the security guards, with some bonuses as high as tens of thousands of baht, along with additional cash.
Somkiat Opaspermphong, president of Passorn Village 1's legal entity, said this is the 15th year that gifts have been given to the security guards, making it a customary practice. This is a way to repay the guards for maintaining peace and order and for promptly addressing residents’ issues. It serves as encouragement for them to continue their duties in coming years. This year, even before the New Year, residents have already brought many gifts, and it is expected that even more will be given as the New Year approaches.
