The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) informs the public to prepare for travel on Charansanitwong Road, where an additional two traffic lanes will be diverted to facilitate the construction of the Orange Line metro project.
The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) announced that Ch. Karnchang Public Company Limited, contractor for Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited—the Orange Line metro joint venture—plans to build the underground Bang Khun Non metro station (OR02) at Charansanitwong Road intersecting with Taling Chan railway track road and Sutthawat Road. The project will start diverting additional traffic lanes on Charansanitwong Road in this area to relocate utilities and prepare for the construction of a retaining wall beginning Thursday, 20 November 2025 from 10:00 p.m. until 24 December 2025 at midnight, operating 24 hours daily. The traffic closures will affect both inbound and outbound lanes and will proceed in stages, closing and diverting lanes one side at a time as follows.
1) Side heading toward Fai Chai Intersection from 20 November 2025 to 10 December 2025: Two traffic lanes will be closed and diverted, allowing Charansanitwong Road on the side toward Fai Chai Intersection to operate with 2 lanes open. Meanwhile, the side heading to Bang Khun Non Intersection will remain with its normal 3 lanes open.
2) Side heading toward Bang Khun Non Intersection from 11 to 20 December 2025: Three traffic lanes will be closed and diverted, resulting in Charansanitwong Road on the side toward Bang Khun Non Intersection operating with 2 lanes open. The side heading to Fai Chai Intersection will have the usual 3 lanes open.
The MRTA has instructed the project consultants and contractors to coordinate closely with the local traffic police to manage traffic during construction, especially during peak hours. If any changes to traffic management occur, contractors must promptly inform the public in advance. In addition, traffic volunteer officers will be deployed, and strict emphasis is placed on maintaining the construction site and barrier lines in proper and safe conditions, complying with the highest safety standards to facilitate convenience and minimize traffic disruptions for the public.
Accordingly, the MRTA advises commuters to prepare and allow extra travel time, and if possible, to avoid the construction areas. The MRTA apologizes for any inconvenience caused. Those needing detailed information on traffic diversions may call 06 3217 6532 and follow project updates on the Facebook page of the Orange Line Metro Project from Bang Khun Non to Thailand Cultural Centre.
