Electric Engineering Student Arrested as Ringleader Converting Scam Money to Cryptocurrency for Chinese Investors

A police investigation team from Metropolitan Police Division 6 cracked down on scammers by arresting an electrical engineering student who turned into a ringleader. He received money from mule accounts linked to a call center gang and converted it into cryptocurrency, laundering it to Chinese investors through another layer.

On 9 Nov 2025 GMT+7, Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Boonsom, Commander of the Metropolitan Police, Pol. Maj. Gen. Chaikrit Pho-a, Commander of Division 6, Pol. Col. Cherdsak Rodkhem, Chief of Investigation, Division 6, and Pol. Lt. Col. Maitri Thima, Investigator, led forces to arrest Mr. Natthapracha, 40, under an arrest warrant from the South Bangkok Criminal Court No. 1059/2568 dated 4 Nov 2025. Charges include conspiracy to commit fraud by impersonation and computer-related offenses involving distorted or false data likely causing public damage. He was apprehended outside a house in Moo 9, Nong Phai Subdistrict, Mueang Sisaket District, Sisaket Province.

The arrest followed a complaint from victims who contacted the admin of the “Baby Sitters Love” page and the Line account “Service Buy&Sell,” which advertised childcare services. Victims were deceived into transferring multiple deposits and service fees. They were convinced by a credible plan and persuasive communication. Later, they were persuaded to invest in gold trading, promised high dividends. Initially, they received returns, but payments stopped, and contact was lost. The total loss was 792,356 baht.

Investigations revealed the gang distributed funds into various mule accounts before withdrawing cash from ATMs to convert into cryptocurrency. Division 6 investigators traced the financial routes and arrested four mule account holders involved. They confessed to forwarding the money to Mr. Natthapracha, who consolidated and converted it into cryptocurrency to send to Chinese handlers.

Upon interrogation, Mr. Natthapracha admitted his involvement in the operation. He was transferred to Pathumwan Police Station for prosecution, and authorities continue to investigate others involved.

Reports indicate Mr. Natthapracha holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a technological university in Bangkok. His wife is a teacher. He became involved in the call center gang by taking assignments from Chinese operators through another layer.
