
The 41st Motor Expo 2024, Thailand and ASEAN's largest automotive and motorcycle exhibition, launched with high energy. Chinese automakers brought a full array of new innovations to the Thai market. Maserati introduced the limited-edition GranTurismo Folgore electric supercar, produced in just 110 units globally to mark Maserati's 110th anniversary. Only one unit is sold in Thailand, priced at 18.9 million baht. Porsche also debuted the Taycan Turbo GT, a fully electric supercar starting at 14.89 million baht. Meanwhile, European and Japanese brands aggressively launched new models to defend their market shares. The event is expected to generate over 60 billion baht in transactions.
The year-end highlight for car enthusiasts not to be missed is the 41st Motor Expo 2024, the grandest automotive and motorcycle showcase in Thailand and ASEAN. It gathers futuristic automotive innovations from around the globe. Organized by SMM Public Company Limited, with Khwanchai Paphatphong as event chairman, the expo carries the theme “Innovative Spirit... Futuristic Vehicles” and was held at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani on 28 Nov 2023 GMT+7.
The atmosphere was vibrant, featuring 64 leading automotive and motorcycle brands from 11 countries. Many launched new models, especially electric and hybrid vehicles, for the first time at the event, including AION V, BYD Sealion 7, Deepal E07, NISSAN SERENA, XPENG X9, ULTRA SMART COUPE MPV, MG NEW IM6, NEW MG CYBERSTER, GWM TANK 700 Hi4-T, CHANGAN P201, NETA S Shooting Brake, Denza G9, Mercedes Maybach EQS 680 SUV, and Mercedes G580. Several new Chinese brands not previously present in Thailand—Geely, Riddara, moda& Jacoo, and Denza—also premiered their vehicles at the show.
Additionally, numerous car and motorcycle manufacturers unveiled prototypes and launched new models energetically. Mazda introduced the new generation of its popular multi-purpose vehicle, the NEW CX5. Isuzu launched its new 2.2 Ddi MAXFORCE engine, offering increased speed, power, and performance across its lineup. Honda revealed the updated Honda HR-V E:HEV. Ford targeted urban consumers with its Ranger MS-RT pickup. Notably, most new models from Chinese, Japanese, and European brands emphasized large multipurpose vehicles (MPVs) and SUVs, catering to family travelers and outdoor enthusiasts, drawing strong visitor interest.
In the luxury supercar segment, several brands introduced fully electric supercars this year, attracting wealthy buyers and collectors. Maserati launched its GranTurismo Folgore limited edition to celebrate its 110th anniversary, with only 110 units worldwide and just one unit imported into Thailand, priced at 18.9 million baht, garnering significant collector attention. Porsche introduced the Taycan Turbo GT, a 100% electric supercar, starting at 14.89 million baht. Lotus presented the LOTUS CHAPMAN BESPOKE, its first 100% electric supercar launch in Southeast Asia at this event.
Khwanchai Paphatphong, the event chairman, revealed that this year’s expo attracted enthusiastic participation from car and motorcycle brands as usual, with 6 to 7 new automotive companies joining. The event features 42 automotive brands from 9 countries and 22 motorcycle brands from 7 countries, showcasing increased innovations in new-energy vehicles. It is expected to generate over 60 billion baht, boosting the Thai automotive market and industry. The 41st Motor Expo 2024 is open to the public from 29 Nov to 10 Dec, 11:00 to 22:00, at Challenger Halls 1-3, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.
