Taxi Driver Offers Thanks to Luang Pho Somwang and Seeks Lucky Numbers from Auspicious Incense

A taxi driver brought a large basket of eggs to fulfill a vow to Luang Pho Somwang after clearing his debts as he had prayed. He also lit auspicious incense to seek lucky numbers for a lottery chance.

On 7 Nov 2025 GMT+7, it was reported that at Wat Klang Bang Phra, Bang Phra Subdistrict, Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom Province, on the morning of 6 Nov, devotees from Nakhon Pathom and nationwide came to pay respects to sacred objects and fulfill vows according to their beliefs.

, the "Luang Pho Somwang" is a large 30-meter-tall image. There is also a venerable statue of Thao Wessuwan, originally donated by the former abbot of Wat Chulamanee, the originator of this form of Thao Wessuwan, to Luang Pho Phut, a contemporary monk, to be enshrined at Wat Klang Bang Phra for devotees to worship and ask for luck. Additionally, the preserved body of the late Luang Pho Phut, whose body has not decayed, is kept in a glass coffin inside the main pavilion for visitors to pay respects.

The method of requesting blessings or luck is indicated by signs at various spots. For example, upon arriving at the temple to worship Luang Pho Somwang, one must first come to the outdoor blessing point, then proceed to apply gold leaf to the statue’s right hand, and make any wishes according to personal beliefs.

It was observed that Anan Rungsang, 60, from Bang Yai, Nonthaburi, a taxi driver, came to fulfill his vow to Luang Pho Somwang by bringing boiled eggs in a large basket along with his wife. He lit incense to inform and pray to Luang Pho Somwang, then rang the victory bell three times to complete the ritual.

Anan shared that five years ago, he bought a sedan to work as a taxi driver during a difficult economic period when many professions were declining. Lacking confidence, he sought spiritual support and prayed to Luang Pho Somwang for the car loan to be fully paid off, for safe driving, good business, and to be able to support his family’s needs, along with good health free from illness. Five years later, all his wishes came true, including paying off the car two months ago. Trusting Luang Pho Somwang's protection, he brought offerings to repay his vow.

Today, he came to pay respects and present offerings as promised but still wished for a stroke of luck to help with family expenses and support his children's education. He took the opportunity to seek lucky numbers from Luang Pho Somwang by lighting auspicious incense placed in front of the statue, focused his mind on asking for fortune, and vowed to return with offerings of a pig’s head, rice, and eggs if successful. After lighting the incense, he saw the numbers 4 4 9. Before leaving, he clasped his hands in prayer again, hoping to achieve luck as the statue’s name suggests. On his way home, he and his wife bought lottery tickets from a vendor at the temple.
