Ice Rakchanok Srinork In the second half of the 2023 election term, no one can deny that Ice-Rakchanok Srinork is standing at the forefront of Thai politics as a newly recognized star in the political arena.
Rakchanok Srinork entered parliament with a simple, relatable image—campaigning by bicycle in Bangkok's District 28 representing the Move Forward Party (before it became the People's Party). She handed out "policy garlands" with brief messages and carried a straightforward motto: understanding problems, truly reliable, never abandoning principles. This approach won her victory over the longtime incumbent Wan Yubamrung, and since then, many have come to know this promising female MP.
According to the asset declarations published by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), Rakchanok reported total assets valued at 5,840,477.67 baht. These include bank deposits of 354,508.75 baht, investments worth 716,404.92 baht, land valued at 1,750,000 baht, buildings and structures also at 1,750,000 baht, and other assets totaling 269,564 baht. Her liabilities amount to 1,814,816.54 baht.
However, Rakchanok's political path has not been smooth. Just months into her parliamentary duties, she faced a conviction under Article 112, receiving a six-year prison sentence for social media posts and retweets. She was released on bail during the appeal process after posting 500,000 baht in collateral, under the condition that she not engage in similar acts related to the case.
This episode brought wide attention to her name—from supporters who offered encouragement to critics who voiced opposition. Yet after leaving the courtroom, Rakchanok did not retreat. Instead, she took on challenging issues affecting workers nationwide, such as the controversial SKYY9 Centre social security building project, criticized for its value and decision-making process.
Rakchanok presented documents, figures, and timelines in clear language that insured persons could understand—not just to point out faults, but to inform workers of their rights, how they can participate, and what standards of transparency they should expect from agencies managing the contributions of "working people."
Through leading the charge on social security issues, Rakchanok has earned recognition asa member of parliamentwho has shown remarkable progress and is among the hardest-working representatives.
Her oversight continues vigorously. One viral issue recently has been her verbal clashes, both offline and online, with "Gun Jomphol," a confrontation so intense it sometimes resembled a headline-grabbing boxing match.
Outside parliamentary hours, Rakchanok is a football fan who supports Liverpool FC in the English Premier League. On 18 October, she shared a list of 10 recommended books, coinciding with the National Book Week period.
