Every legend has an origin; every success has a backstory. Netflix is bringing back Thailand’s famous master thief legend with its latest action-drama film. "Tee Yai Rerk Dao Jone" featuring the hottest young actor, Apo Natthawiny Watthanakitiphat, taking on the role of Tee Yai 2025, offering a perspective never before shared through the eyes of legendary director Uay Nontree Nimibutr.
This film takes viewers back to the 1970s to reveal a new side of the Tee Yai legend never told before. Nontree Nimibutr, director and co-writer, shared his inspiration for retelling the story of the highest-bounty bandit in history.
“Tee Yai Rerk Dao Jone tells the story of a historic master thief whose tales we've heard countless times. This time, I want to present a different angle that hasn’t been explored: his many narrow escapes were rumored to be due to magic spells, but I believe he had close companions or trusted friends who supported him behind the scenes, helping him overcome obstacles and survive every time. I believe a great thief like Tee Yai did not walk this path alone. This is the fresh perspective I want audiences to experience.”
The film tells of the collaboration between two lifelong best friends: Tee (played by Apo Natthawiny Watthanakitiphat), a master thief living as if there is no tomorrow, and Rerk (played by Most Wisarut Himrat), a calm and composed close friend. Together, they built their reputation through exceptional heists that became legendary.
However, their criminal path begins to shake when Dao (played by Kao Supassara Thanachat) enters Rerk’s life, leading him to consider leaving the underworld. Meanwhile, Police Inspector Jakkarat (played by Joke Akarin Akkarinithimethat), a skilled officer, is plotting to bring them down.
Furthermore, "Tee Yai Rerk Dao Jone" boasts a stellar cast including Kris Horwang, Nont Sadanon Durongveroj, and Fay Pattra Eksangkul, adding depth and color to the story, with intense action scenes and an authentically recreated retro atmosphere.
